  14. I am testing a new installation of TeX/LaTeX + xdvik +
  15. dvipsk all taken off the CTAN archives. When I run dvips 
  16. on an old dvi file, I get the following error messages.

  18. > dvips: Font cmbx10 at 622 not found; scaling 622 instead.
  19. > dvips: Such scaling will generate extremely poor output.
  20. > dvips: Font cmr10 at 432 not found; scaling 432 instead.
  21. > dvips: Font cmbx12 at 300 not found; scaling 300 instead.
  22. > dvips: Font cmr12 at 300 not found; scaling 300 instead.
  23. > dvips: Font cmmi12 at 300 not found; scaling 300 instead.
  24. > dvips: Font cmr8 at 300 not found; scaling 300 instead.
  25. > dvips: Font cmtt12 at 300 not found; scaling 300 instead.
  26. > dvips: Font cmsy10 at 360 not found; scaling 360 instead.

  28. Yet all of these fonts exist in the default directory,
  29. i.e., /usr/local/lib/texmf/fonts/public/cm/pk/cx/. I suspect
  30. a problem with directory searching, but I did not change any
  31. of Karl's default paths.

  38. I don't know why cmmf is dying. The installation passes 
  39. the trap test, differing in the usual ways from Knuth's 
  40. trap.log.

  42. Perhaps someone can point me in the right direction? I'm
  43. using a MIPS Magnum running under risc/os 4.52 using cc
  44. v2.20.
